Quality Focus
A New Year but with the same focus on quality for Denton Engineering & Hydraulics.
Denton Engineering & Hydraulics pride themselves on their high level of quality when completing all work orders, large or small and are proudly ISO certified in three categories as well as being registered with JAS-ANZ:
- ISO9001 – Quality Management Systems
- ISO45001 – Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
- ISO14001 – Environmental Management Systems
ISO9001 – Quality Management Systems
This certification requires a business to focus on two parts:
“a) needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and
b) aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.”
ISO45001 – Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
ISO45001 “specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, and gives guidance for its use, to enable organisations to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health, as well as by proactively improving its OH&S performance.”
ISO14001 - Environmental Management Systems
This certification “specifies the requirements for an environmental management system that an organization can use to enhance its environmental performance and is intended for use by an organization seeking to manage its environmental responsibilities in a systematic manner that contributes to the environmental pillar of sustainability.”

The Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ)
“JAS-ANZ accreditation sends a clear message. It says your certification or inspection body can be counted on to perform its duties—in an authoritative and impartial way. It flags that you have been approved by an independent third-party as a professional body that acts with integrity when certifying or inspecting for conformity assessment.”

These Certifications and Accreditations are internationally recognised and require continuous improvement. ISO re-certification is required every three years, whilst JAS-ANZ required re-accreditation every four years.
How do these certifications effect our work orders and what do they mean for our customers?
Denton Engineering & Hydraulics have Standard Operating Procedures for all machines as well as work processes for jobs that are common in our workshop to ensure consistent output. Each morning, work orders are distributed to tradesmen based on their experience that include specifications and measurements for the work orders which are then double checked upon completion, prior to the job being removed from the machine. Whenever training is taking place with our apprentices, jobs are given to them that are within their skill range and there is always a fully qualified tradesman on hand supervise, to assist where needed, and ensure that all job requirements and safety measures are in place.
Should there be a discrepancy with what has been completed vs what the customer requested, Denton Engineering & Hydraulics are more than happy to go over this. We pride ourselves on meeting our customers’ expectations and will inspect the job and re-work if required.
Within our workshop we have numerous safety procedures including uniform requirements, such as safety glasses, tucked in shirt and appropriate boots. We have a designated area for completed jobs so customers can collect their goods without being exposed to any hazards and to prevent them from entering the workshop itself. All jobs are assessed for risks, with First Aids kits on hand, along with appropriate Incident Reporting should there be an injury.
We have regular meetings with our staff to go over any changes to safety within the workshop and address any issues that come up, including any issues with completed work orders.
Finally, Denton Engineering & Hydraulics have implemented various sustainable processes to minimize their impact on the Environment. This includes the responsible sourcing of pallets and packaging for work orders, correct removal and disposal of oils, greases and other hazardous materials, recycling where possible including use of cardboard and recycled clothing for workshop rags. In the office, Denton Engineering & Hydraulics look into products provided by their suppliers from an environmental perspective, and take small steps like minimising printing, minimising the use of plastics, turning off electrical items when not in use, and ensuring that occasionally used areas have sensor lighting, and that external lighting, A/C and heating are on timers.
Our customers can be assured that when they employ Denton Engineering & Hydraulics, they are supporting an organization that is focused on providing the best quality products and services to their customers in a safe, healthy environment, with an emphasis on minimising their environmental impact.
