Our Machining Capabilities

Our Machining Capabilities

Here at Denton Engineering & Hydraulics we have a workforce with skills that range from painting, light to medium fabrication, welding, manual machining, and operating CNC machines as well as many in between.

We’re taking the opportunity this quarter to showcase some of our machines and what they are capable of when in the right hands!

Manual Lathes

We have a total of eleven lathes in the shop with turning capacity ranging up to 1600mm dia. x 5000mm long.

Our Tradesmen have experience across all our manual lathes and can complete work orders to the highest quality in line with quoted prices. You can be assured that even the most detailed jobs will be completed to perfection with our resident Tool Maker, Dave, showing off what he can do with these jobs!

CNC Machines

We initially started our workshop with only a manual lathe and a miller, and we have grown to now include a CNC Lathe and a CNC Machining Centre in our shop of goodies. Our tradesman John is passionate about machining using these bad boys and can complete multiple work orders at a time in our custom designed CNC Machine shop, cutting down on time in labour for our valued customers.

The CNC Lathe can machine a maximum Length – 500mm and Turning Diameter – 300mm.

The CNC Machining Centre has a travel of 1200x600x675mm and a table size of 1220 x 620mm.

Horizontal Borers

Our horizontal borers number in three and range up to a 1200 x 1400 table with a max weight of 10 tonne. We’ve had everything on these gals from huge wheel hubs and pulleys to gearboxes and even a fully assembled forklift that needed machining!

Vertical Borers

In addition to our horizontal borers, we also have three Vertical Borers’. These machines are nothing to ignore with their 1600mm table size and 1250mm under the bridge. We make sure all our tradesmen have experience on these machines and include them in our apprenticeship training – contributing to our highly skilled workforce.

Milling Machines

Reliable and dynamic, milling machines are the unappreciated heroes of our shop. Our tradies use these guys for everything and have built and designed various jigs to ensure that every job that required milling can be completed without any dramas. Our machines range from a 1000mm x 300 mm table to 1500mm x 300mm table, and they are the introductory machines for the apprentices we put on each year.

Hydraulic stripping bench & test bench

Denton’s has both a Hydraulic stripping and test bench that get regular work outs! Hydraulic cylinder overhauls are something we do lots of, so we make sure we have the right equipment to get the highest quality results.

Stripping bench size – 10 metres long with 90,000 Ft Lb Torque

Test bench size – 3,500psi capabilities

Honer

Honer

Of course, when completing cylinder overhauls, you need honing capabilities! Denton’s has a Sunnen honing machine measuring 380mm wide x 6m long that we can work so well, the inside on your cylinder could double as a mirror! We have multiple heads for the honing stones to attach to and a range of seals on hand if reassembling is required.

Thermal Arc Spraying

Paul, our workshop supervisor, spent seven years in Qld where he learnt the art of Thermal Arc Spraying and brought his passion with him when he returned to NSW. Since he has been working in the family business again, he has driven the implementation of three custom bult, high quality and safe, Thermal Arc booths. Denton’s is capable of using this incredible medium to reclaim jobs as needed, particularly internal and external bearing and seal positions on shafts, gearboxes, hubs, etc, back to OEM specifications.

Sandblasting & Painting booths

We are a one-stop-shop, and this includes our finishes. You need something painted after it’s machined, we’ve got it covered! Your work orders can be sandblasted using shot or grit blasting and painted as needed. We also have the capabilities to order specific colours, for example, CAT Yellow is one that basically runs out our doors…

Sand Blasting Chamber – Shot Blasting Chamber (6.0m deep x 4.0m wide x 4.0m high)

Sand Blasting Chamber – Grit Blasting Chamber (5.5m deep x 4.0m wide x 4.2m high)

Painting Booth (9.0m deep x 5.5m wide x 5.0m high)

Primed and painted!

Welding Bays

We have an awesome welder, Anthony, who has been with us for 12 years. He is a pro at what he does and can use our entire range of welders safely and to a high-quality standard, you won’t find any blow outs on his jobs! We offer several different welding options including MIG Welders, SubArc Welders, TIG Welders & Stick welding capabilities.

Cranes

Forklifts

Fleet

At Denton Engineering & Hydraulics we have two overhead cranes at, one at 5 tonne, and one at 20 tonne, to suit any job. We also have numerous jib cranes that are shared amongst our tradies and of course all our staff are trained in the safe and correct usage of these items.

.

As milling machines are the underappreciated heroes of a machine shop, forklifts are the underappreciated heroes of any plant fleet. Their use is versatile and only limited by the driver’s skill and the weight load. We have five forklifts for use within the shop ranging from 3 to 10 tonne and all our operators are qualified.

We have three workshop utes that we use to collect and deliver your work orders. There are also workshop utes and we have two trucks available for larger or multiple job collection and delivery along, with licensed truck drivers.

Along with our machines we also of course have a fully equipped range of electrical, air, and manual tools at the disposal of the Tradesmen.

So, if you need any work orders completed and are unsure if we can handle it, get in touch and we can go over the details! Otherwise, feel free to bring your job to the shop and we’ll get it happening for you!

After all, if it’s made of steel, we can fix it!
